About us

Our vision is for all of nature to flourish and for humans to live in joyful and responsible co-existence.

Our mission is to deepen the Church’s connection with nature, to help us develop our theology of the environment, and to enhance the well-being of Christian and other communities by providing opportunities to spend time amidst the great diversity of the natural world.

The presence of the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, its gardeners and scientists, provides a wonderful opportunity for churches, locally and wider afield, to deepen our connection with creation.

Kew Theology and Gardening was founded in March 2024, from St Anne’s Church, Kew, to deliver a variety of accessible activities, ranging from the practical, therapeutic and educational to the reflective and spiritual.

The centre of our approach is the appreciation of creation and diversity, sharing knowledge and learning from one another.

We recognise how access to nature and gardens differs, and we are committed to addressing this inequality in our work.

Our hope is for everyone we work with to experience more of a sense of their own belonging in the natural world, increased well-being, the desire to care for the rest of biodiversity and growth in practical know-how.

“Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” — St Francis of Assisi
